You Can Play the New Gears of War Game Now on Xbox Game Pass
Subscribers can also play Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Gears of War is one of the most iconic Xbox series, spawning sequels, spin-offs and books. I fell in love with the series almost 20 years ago when the original landed on the Xbox 360. Microsoft brought the remastered edition of the game, called Gears of War: Reloaded, to Xbox Game Pass and I can’t wait to play it.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, a CNET Editors’ Choice award pick, offers hundreds of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Amazon Fire TV, smart TV and PC or mobile device for $20 a month. A subscription gives you access to a large library of games, with new ones, like Doom: The Dark Ages, added monthly, plus other benefits such as online multiplayer and deals on non-Game Pass titles.

Chaos. That’s the best way to describe this game. You play as a goat and your mission is the total destruction of everything in sight. Can’t stand the look of that car? Run it off the road. Persona 4 Golden

A string of serial murders set this game in motion, where you’ll travel between the real world and the world within TVs as you try and find out who — or what — is behind the murders. This covert, revenge thriller is like a comic book in game form. You play as a retired secret agent who gets called in for «one last job.» But unlike other stories where the hero says, «Yes,» you say, «No.» So now the military-industrial complex is hunting you through the North American wilderness. You have to evade your enemies and sabotage their equipment to survive.
Nine Sols
New to Game Pass Standard.
Don’t let the cute cat-like hero fool you; this game can be brutal. This 2D action platformer is about revenge. You play as an ancient hero who awakes from a 500-year slumber to embark on a vengeful journey against those who imprisoned them. The hand-drawn art style and gameplay inspired by Sekiro make this a uniquely challenging and beautiful game.
Game Pass Ultimate subscribers could play this game in December, and Game Pass Standard subscribers can play this difficult but rewarding game soon, too.
Cataclismo
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Sept. 4.
This game combines resource management, real-time strategy, siege defense and exploration into one title. Creatures from a corrupted world, called Horrors, are seeking to destroy humanity, so you have to build intricate fortresses to fend off waves of enemies. Once the Horrors are gone, you’ll forage for resources outside of your defenses during the day to help in the next night’s attacks. Will you be able to find a way to put a stop to the Horrors once and for all, or will you fall like the rest of humanity?
PAW Patrol World
Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Standard subscribers can play on Sept. 10.
Microsoft removed this kid-friendly game from Game Pass in February, and the company is bringing it back to the service this month. You can play as Chase, Skye, Marshall or Everest as they save the day across locations like Adventure Bay, Jake’s Mountain, the Jungle and Barkingburg. Use your nose to sniff out secrets and pup treats you can use to unlock new outfits and more for your pup.
RoadCraft
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play on Sept. 16.
When natural disasters strike, someone has to clean up the damage and restore the local infrastructure. That’s where you and your company come in. You’ll use construction machinery to clear debris, replace faulty equipment and rebuild roads, bridges and more. Don’t just throw all that debris away. Some of it can be recycled and used for reconstruction in this building simulator.
Games leaving Xbox Game Pass on Sept. 15
While Microsoft is adding all those games to Game Pass soon, the company is removing a few others from the service on Sept. 15. So you still have some time to finish your main campaign and any side quests in these games before you’ll have to buy them separately.

Before It Becomes a Hit TV Series, Fourth Wing Fans Are Going to Obsess Over This New Board Game
A simple party game surrounding key elements from the smash hit Fourth Wing books is coming soon.
Fans of Rebecca Yarros’ Empyrean book series are in the middle of a content Winter right now. After Fourth Wing and Iron Flame were released six months apart, and Onyx Storm dropped 14 months later, the author announced she was taking a break and it would be a while before the fourth installment would be announced. Combine that with Amazon’s Prime Studios being light on details the highly anticipated Fourth Wing TV series would start shooting, and fans are eager for something to keep them connected to this world.
Enter Hasbro, which has been working directly with Rebecca Yarros on an officially licensed version of the popular party game Priorities. I’ve spent the last week playing Priorities: Fourth Wing with a rotating cast of fellow fans of the book series, and can confidently say this game will be a popular gift to give this holiday season.
For the uninitiated, Priorities is a quick-play game where the table works together to guess which order the round leader ranks a series of concepts on cards. Each round takes about 20 minutes to complete, and broadly speaking the franchise is quite popular because it can be played with just about anyone and remain pretty lighthearted. It also travels well, since the box is smaller than most board games you’ll find on shelves.
As you might expect, the Fourth Wing version of this game heavily themes the core parts of this game to reflect the artwork and concepts from the books. Despite the name, Hasbro Board Games SVP Brian Baker made it clear to me the team responsible for this game was permitted to pull from all three publicly available books and all aspects of the game were approved by Rebecca Yarros before its creation. In my time playing the game with others, I found everything was quite accessible to anyone who has only read the first book but more in-depth conversations would pop up with those who had read it all. And yes, some of the spicier parts of the books can be found in the game.
Every person I played Priorities: Fourth Wing with all had the same positive response to the game. The game format itself is a proven success, and there are no fans of this series who wouldn’t want to discuss their theories and favorites with other fans. Plus, for $25, it’s a solid addition to any board game shelf and a great way to bring your bookish friends together.
Priorities: Fourth Wing is available to pre-order now and ships September 25th.
