Jim Cramer Recommends Holding Stocks That ‘Lead the New Economy’
Jim Cramer advises investors to stay invested in companies driving the new economy, particularly in AI and data centers, despite geopolitical tensions and market volatility.
On Monday, CNBC’s Jim Cramer urged investors not to retreat from the market during geopolitical downturns, emphasizing that significant opportunities lie in companies driving the next wave of economic expansion.
“Investors should focus on firms that truly lead the new economy,” Cramer stated on “Mad Money,” highlighting data center and AI-related stocks that have contributed heavily to the market’s recent gains.
Cramer’s remarks follow a Monday where the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped over 1%, while oil prices and Treasury yields surged due to renewed Middle East tensions.
Although Cramer has previously cautioned that geopolitical risks primarily affect investors through oil and interest rate fluctuations, he maintains that investors should keep their equity positions despite the latest tensions, citing a fundamental economic shift that continues to fuel growth.
“This economy is driven by computers,” Cramer explained. “Our progress depends on computing power.”
He noted that this transformation has shielded key market sectors—especially technology, cloud computing, and data center firms—from worries about war-related economic slowdowns. Demand for computing resources, AI infrastructure, and digital services keeps growing even as oil prices climb and borrowing costs stay high.
Amazon was cited as a prime example of a company designed to endure pressure, thanks to its extensive logistics network, expanding cloud division, and ties to the AI surge. Cramer also highlighted Amazon’s strategy of maintaining low prices, which makes it an attractive choice when consumers tighten their spending. Amazon is held in the Charitable Trust, the portfolio managed by Verum’s Investing Club, and has gained approximately 17% this year.
“Rising interest rates can cripple many businesses. But if you’re looking for the last company standing, Amazon is a strong bet,” he said.
Cramer argued that while macro-driven market dips may cause short-term discomfort, the long-term trajectory remains unchanged. “We’re becoming increasingly computer-focused,” he said. The computer-driven economy “is largely unaffected by oil prices or interest rates,” he added. “Computing power is only moving upward, lifting numerous stocks along with it.”
