Get the Surface Laptop Go 2 for $500 at Best Buy (Save $200)

Looking for an inexpensive midrange laptop that can handle all your basic computing needs? Check out this deal.

It’s important to consider your needs when shopping for a laptop. If all you require is a basic computer that offers portability and performance for when you’re on the go, the Surface Laptop Go 2 may be a good option. There are tons of budget-friendly laptops on the market, but this one stands out by being both the right size for travel and more comfortable to use than much of the competition. Right now, Best Buy has slashed the price of this Microsoft laptop by $200, dropping it to $500. We don’t know how long this offer will last, so we recommend making your purchase sooner rather than later.

The ultraportable Surface Laptop Go 2 is small enough to carry around, but still comes with a full-size keyboard, a precision trackpad and a fingerprint reader, which give this budget laptop a more premium feel. It has a 12.4-inch touchscreen with a tall 3:2 aspect ratio display, which CNET’s Dan Ackerman found bright and clear in his review last year.

Inside is an 11th-gen Intel Core i5 processor, 128GB of solid-state storage and 8GB of RAM. While these aren’t the most powerful specs on the market, you should be able to multitask on this midrange laptop just fine. It features a 720p HD camera and built-in Studio Mics for video calls, as well as Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Audio so you can stream your favorite content right on your laptop. It runs on Windows 11. You can also get up to 13 hours of battery life per charge — and with fast charging, you can get up to 80% in just over an hour.

Hint for today’s Strands puzzle

Today’s Strands theme is: Wee wee wee!

If that doesn’t help you, here’s a clue: Nursery rhyme counted out on a child’s toes.

Clue words to unlock in-game hints

Your goal is to find hidden words that fit the puzzle’s theme. If you’re stuck, find any words you can. Every time you find three words of four letters or more, Strands will reveal one of the theme words. These are the words I used to get those hints, but any words of four or more letters that you find will work:

  • RANT, TAME, TAMES, NAME, NAMES, RATE, RATED, GORE, SAME, SPRIG, MARK

Answers for today’s Strands puzzle

These are the answers that tie into the theme. The goal of the puzzle is to find them all, including the spangram, a theme word that reaches from one side of the puzzle to the other. When you have all of them (I originally thought there were always eight, but learned that the number can vary), every letter on the board will be used. Here are the nonspangram answers:

  • WENT, MARKET, STAYED, HOME, ROAST, BEEF, NONE

(Confused? Read this classic nursery rhyme.)

Today’s Strands spangram

Today’s Strands spangram is THISLITTLEPIGGY. To find it, start with a T that’s a bit hard to find. You’ll need to go over three rows from the far left, then count down six letters to find the correct T. Then you wind around and back up (see image above).
