Today’s NYT Strands puzzle’s theme is «you’ve got that right,» and yesterday’s was «you got that right.» Yet they mean very different things, and the clues are very different from each other. Stumped? If you need hints and answers, read on.
I go into depth about the rules for Strands in this story.

Hint for today’s Strands puzzle
Today’s Strands theme is: You’ve got that right.
If that doesn’t help you, here’s a clue: As a citizen…
Clue words to unlock in-game hints
Your goal is to find hidden words that fit the puzzle’s theme. If you’re stuck, find any words you can. Every time you find three words of four letters or more, Strands will reveal one of the theme words. These are the words I used to get those hints but any words of four or more letters that you find will work:
- COPS, SHEEN, SHEENS, SETS, SITS, BITE, BITES, RITE, LUTE, TILE, CHEEP
Answers for today’s Strands puzzle
These are the answers that tie into the theme. The goal of the puzzle is to find them all, including the spangram, a theme word that reaches from one side of the puzzle to the other. When you have all of them (I originally thought there were always eight but learned that the number can vary), every letter on the board will be used. Here are the nonspangram answers:
- LIFE, VOTE, LIBERTY, SPEECH, ASSEMBLY, COUNSEL
Today’s Strands spangram
Today’s Strands spangram is CONSTITUTION. To find it, look for the C that’s three letters in towards the right from the top row, and wind down.
Toughest Strands puzzles
Here are some of the Strands topics I’ve found to be the toughest in recent weeks.
#1: Dated slang, Jan. 21. Maybe you didn’t even use this lingo when it was cool. Toughest word: PHAT.
#2: Thar she blows! Jan.15. I guess marine biologists might ace this one. Toughest word: BALEEN or RIGHT.
#3: Off the hook, Jan. 9. Similar to the Jan. 15 puzzle in that it helps to know a lot about sea creatures. Sorry, Charlie. Toughest word: BIGEYE or SKIPJACK

What are today’s Connections answers?
The yellow words in today’s Connections
The theme is instruct. The four answers are coach, direct, guide and train.
The green words in today’s Connections
The theme is means. The four answers are instrument, medium, organ and vehicle.
The blue words in today’s Connections
The theme is starting with Greek numerical prefixes. The four answers are dioxide, monorail, quadrant and triangle.
The purple words in today’s Connections
The theme is anagrams of musical instruments. The four answers are abut (tuba), bulge (bugle), groan (organ) and voila (viola).
Quick tips for Connections
#1: Say the clue words out loud, pausing before and after each. That helps you hear the words in the context of a phrase. The Connections editors love to group words together that are used in similar phrasing, like ____ Up.
#2: Don’t go for the obvious grouping. These editors are smart. Once, they offered SPONGE, BOB, SQUARE and PANTS in the same puzzle. None of those words were in the same category. If you like, hit the «shuffle» button to give yourself a different perspective on the words.
#3: Break down any compound words and look for similarities. «Rushmore» was once in a puzzle where the connection was that each word started with the name of a rock band.

No matter which band you choose, you’ll get the same Apple Watch Ultra 2, which means a large-yet-comfortable 49mm size and a gorgeous display that’s easy to read even in direct sunlight. Its size also means that it has the longest-lasting battery of any Apple Watch, so you can go longer between charges. There’s even the option to enable a low power mode to eke every last bit of juice out of it if the need arises.
Each Apple Watch Ultra 2 comes with cellular connectivity, so you can leave your iPhone at home while the corrosion-resistant titanium case is joined by a sapphire front crystal that makes it more resistant to scratches.
Like all Apple Watches, the Ultra 2 supports the same health and fitness features that have made these wearables so popular. You can track workouts, including heart rate zones and training load, among other things. All of that and more make this the go-to smartwatch for people who live an active life and want their wearable to keep up, no matter what they get up to.
