The award-winning, quirky survival game Grounded is like the game version of the classic ’80s comedy film, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. And Xbox Game Pass subscribers can get early access to that game’s sequel, Grounded 2, now. 

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, a CNET Editors’ Choice award pick, offers hundreds of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC or mobile device for $20 a month. A subscription gives you access to a large library of games, with new ones, including Doom: The Dark Ages, added monthly, plus other benefits such as online multiplayer and deals on non-Game Pass titles.

Here are the games Microsoft brought to Game Pass in July. You can also check out other games the company added to the service recently, like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4.

Science meets violence in this 1990s-inspired sci-fi survival game. You and up to five other players can choose your areas of expertise, build your scientist and explore a massive, top-secret underground complex filled with artifacts and supernatural horrors that could tear you limb from limb. And remember, safety, security and secrecy are of the utmost importance… usually. 

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

This souls-like RPG is set during the final days of the Ming Dynasty. You play as an amnesiac pirate warrior named Wuchang on a quest to uncover the truth behind a world full of chaos. You’ll fight monstrous creatures in forgotten temples and overgrown ruins, unlock new weapons and master devastating techniques in order to bring peace to yourself and others. 

RoboCop: Rogue City

Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Standard subscribers can play now.

Serve the public, protect the innocent and uphold the law as the cyborg RoboCop. You’ll investigate crimes in Old Detroit before using your cyborg strength, cybernetic implants and arsenal of weapons to eradicate gangs from the area. This game is a whole new RoboCop story based on the film series, and Peter Weller, the original RoboCop himself, returns to voice the titular character.

My Friendly Neighborhood

Something’s going on with everyone’s favorite Saturday morning puppet show, and it’s up to you to figure out what in this survival horror game. You’ll solve puzzles and use tools and improvised weapons to fend off your multicolored foes. So if you have anything against Barney or Big Bird, you can take out your feelings on them with this game. 

Back to the Dawn

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play now. 

This game is like if the series Prison Break took place in the Zootopia universe. You’ll play as either a fox named Thomas or a black panther named Bob as they try to navigate the prison system and escape with their lives. With multiple escape routes and over 100 quests you can complete, you can replay this game numerous times and have a different experience each time.

Wheel World

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play now.

If you want to take a nice, relaxing bike ride, this game is for you. Previously known as Ghost Bike, this game puts you behind the handlebars of one of the last ghost bikes around. These bikes can traverse between the lands of the living and the dead. You can explore these lands at your leisure while you race other riders and upgrade your ride with treasures you find along the way.

Farming Simulator 25

Farming isn’t always as simple as games like Stardew Valley might make it out to be, but it can still be very rewarding. If you want a taste of what goes into building and maintaining your own farm, give Farming Simulator 25 a try. You’ll grow diverse crops, raise different animals and with the weather-changing, ground-deforming atmosphere, you’ll face all kinds of challenges along the way.

While Microsoft is adding those games to Game Pass, it also removed three other games. So if you still need to finish your campaign or complete any side quests, you’ll have to buy these games separately now.

Nintendo says it’s raising prices for the original Switch hardware lineup and select accessories. The company didn’t provide details of how much the price will increase or give a reason why other than saying the increase was «based on market conditions,» which is likely a reference to the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. 

The Switch OLED, Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite and certain accessories will see a price jump starting on Sunday, Aug. 3, the company said in a post Friday. Nintendo says it will not increase the price of the recently released Switch 2, but did mention that «price adjustments may be necessary in the future.»

Other non-Switch accessories will also see a price increase. This includes certain Switch 2 accessories, Amiibo and the Nintendo Alarmo. Nintendo’s announcement didn’t provide details about the changes, but retailers have already adjusted their prices.

Nintendo didn’t immediately respond to a request for further comment. 

When the Switch 2 made its debut, there were concerns about the pricing of the console. The $450 launch price was higher than any other Nintendo console previously released, with some considering that it was higher to include possible tariffs. That same day, Trump announced a new set of tariffs on countries the US trades with. 

Three of those countries — China, Vietnam and Japan — are vital for Nintendo’s business. Japan is the most obvious, as Nintendo is based there. China is also easy to recognize as the country that manufactures most of Nintendo’s products, while Vietnam is the other country that produces the hardware for the company. Due to that announcement, Nintendo delayed preorders for the Switch 2 for the US. 

Nintendo did end up launching the Switch 2 at the originally announced price, but some accessories did increase in price before the system’s debut. If Nintendo increased the price of the Switch 2, experts said the jump could be by up to $100. 

Not all retailers have increased their prices as of Friday on the original Switch hardware, so if you’re looking to pick one up, you should buy it before Aug. 3. The same could be said for gamers who want a Switch 2, as that price could hike up soon. 

A supercharged version of Google’s Gemini 2.5 large language model recently reached gold medal status at the International Mathematical Olympiad. Now you can ask a version of it (only a bronze medalist) to answer your toughest math questions. Like, how am I going to pay $250 a month for this AI subscription?

Naturally, this new version of Google’s Gemini 2.5 Deep Think is designed for complicated questions that require much more work than you’d expect from a free or cheap AI chatbot. Google said it’s designed to handle prompts that require strategic planning, creativity and deep reasoning. 

Google’s making it available now to subscribers of the company’s $250-per-month AI Ultra plan. That subscription, first announced earlier this year at Google’s I/O developer conference, is a steep price to pay for generative AI tools. The tech giant teased then that this model would be among the offerings to make that price worthwhile. (You can still access other Gemini models either for free or at a $20-per-month tier.)

Generative AI developers are intent on building ever more powerful models, and one big way they’re doing so is by expanding their ability for research and increasing the amount of time these models can work. OpenAI has a Deep Research tool for ChatGPT users, and Google’s Gemini has a tool by the same name for all users. 

While those research modes allow models more time, Deep Think uses «parallel thinking» to consider different ideas at once, combining or revising them as it goes. Deep Think also just has more time to think and process, which helps it find better answers but also costs more money and uses more computing power.
