How to Preorder Nintendo Switch 2: All Store Links

Whatever the price, Nintendo Switch 2 preorders are certain to sell out fast.

The Switch 2 Nintendo Direct event is on April 2, and there are a lot of questions about Nintendo’s next console that will be answered. Some info was leaked early about the Switch 2, which could give some insights into what to expect during the stream. 

Nintendo’s Switch 2 unveiling in January didn’t provide much beyond the look of the new console. There were mentions of the backward compatible feature and hands-on events for the public to try out the console, which will be happening worldwide, starting in New York on April 4. 

Preorders aren’t open yet, and no release date has been set, but information and rumors about the launch have trickled out since Nintendo’s announcements. 

Here’s what you need to know about Nintendo Switch 2 preorders. 

Where can I preorder the Switch 2? 

No retailer has made preorders available yet, but the links could go up on April 9, as leaked, or maybe even sooner. Here’s what the major retailers have for their Switch 2 pages, as of Wednesday morning. We’ll be keeping these preorder links updated so bookmark this page to not miss out on Nintendo Switch 2 preorders.

On Tuesday a user on X posted what could be a preorder deal from GameStop for trading in an older Switch. The video game retailer typically has trade-in deals for older consoles when newer ones are released. 

When can I preorder the Switch 2? 

Nintendo hasn’t provided a date for preorders, and it will likely happen after the stream on April 2. The question is how soon after the stream. 

A now-deleted blog post from Best Buy Canada, posted on March 27, had a date of April 2 for when preorders for the Switch would be available, according to a tweet on X. The post appeared not to have mentioned the release date or the price of the Switch 2. 

Another report says Switch 2 preorders will happen on April 9, a week after the reveal event. According to Insider Gaming, this date is based on documents and emails from a US retailer. Again, no price was listed. 

How much will the Switch 2 cost? 

That’s another detail Nintendo has yet to announce. The original Switch launched at $299, but considering the Switch OLED currently costs $350, it’s unlikely the Switch 2 will go for less.

Some Nintendo analysts are now predicting a price point of $399 to $499 for the Nintendo Switch 2, according to a Bloomberg report. The analysts expect the Switch 2 chip itself to cost the company between $130 and $150.

When will the Switch 2 be released?

The report on the April 9 Switch 2 preorder date also had a release schedule for June. The aforementioned Bloomberg report also indicates that the new Switch 2 will be released to the public in June 2025, with inventory projected at 6 million to 8 million consoles. Good luck getting your hands on one.

If that doesn’t help you, here’s a clue: A mess of items.

Clue words to unlock in-game hints

Your goal is to find hidden words that fit the puzzle’s theme. If you’re stuck, find any words you can. Every time you find three words of four letters or more, Strands will reveal one of the theme words. These are the words I used to get those hints but any words of four or more letters that you find will work:

  • BATE, LICE, SLUM, CAPE, HOLE, CARE, BARE, THEN, SLAM, SAMBA, BACK

Answers for today’s Strands puzzle

These are the answers that tie into the theme. The goal of the puzzle is to find them all, including the spangram, a theme word that reaches from one side of the puzzle to the other. When you have all of them (I originally thought there were always eight but learned that the number can vary), every letter on the board will be used. Here are the nonspangram answers:

  • TAPE, COIN, PENCIL, BATTERY, SHOELACE, THUMBTACK

Today’s Strands spangram

Today’s Strands spangram is JUNKDRAWER. To find it, look for the J that’s five letters down on the far-left row, and wind down, over and then up.

Quick tips for Strands

#1: To get more clue words, see if you can tweak the words you’ve already found, by adding an «S» or other variants. And if you find a word like WILL, see if other letters are close enough to help you make SILL, or BILL.

#2: Once you get one theme word, look at the puzzle to see if you can spot other related words.

#3: If you’ve been given the letters for a theme word, but can’t figure it out, guess three more clue words, and the puzzle will light up each letter in order, revealing the word.
