Black Friday is rapidly approaching, and there are already plenty of ways to save big on laptops.

Black Friday has already kicked off with some impressive laptop deals ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, including some of our picks for best laptops. Everything from MacBooks to gaming laptops are showing some of the biggest discounts of the year. So whether you’re looking to do some early holiday shopping or just upgrade your current device, these might be the biggest discounts you’ll see for months.

There are plenty of Black Friday discounts already available that can save you some money (nearly a grand in some cases). You’ll find great deals on laptops with Intel’s previous 11th-generation (and very capable) Core processors and chips from AMD’s previous Ryzen 5000 series. You can also save on newer models with Intel’s current chip family, the 12th-gen Core chips and AMD’s Ryzen 6000-series processors.

This list will be regularly updated with the best laptop, MacBook and Chromebook deals as we spot them. You can expect to find discounts direct from PC makers, including Black Friday sales from Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer and others, as well as Black Friday sales from retailers Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Newegg.

What should you look for in a laptop deal?

One of the biggest things to consider is which laptop configuration is on sale. Often, with the best laptop deals, only a specific version of the laptop is on sale and making any changes to it could affect the price. This means that sometimes you find the 512GB model is actually cheaper than the 256GB option, or a similar situation.

When are the best laptop deals available?

Generally, you’ll find the best laptop deals during back-to-school shopping time in late summer or early fall and a bit later in the year during annual Black Friday sales events. There are laptop deals available throughout the year, but if you’re looking for the best deal and can afford to wait a little, these are the best times of the year to buy one.

Which retailers usually offer the best laptop deals?

You can usually find deals across a variety of retailers when it comes to laptop sales. Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg and other retailers tend to offer sales on more specific models while manufacturers like HP, Lenovo and Dell usually host larger sales that cover more models and configurations. If you’re looking for a specific model, you’ll want to keep checking back weekly for the latest set of deals.

Clue words to unlock in-game hints

Your goal is to find hidden words that fit the puzzle’s theme. If you’re stuck, find any words you can. Every time you find three words of four letters or more, Strands will reveal one of the theme words. These are the words I used to get those hints but any words of four or more letters that you find will work:

BATE, LICE, SLUM, CAPE, HOLE, CARE, BARE, THEN, SLAM, SAMBA, BACK

Answers for today’s Strands puzzle

These are the answers that tie into the theme. The goal of the puzzle is to find them all, including the spangram, a theme word that reaches from one side of the puzzle to the other. When you have all of them (I originally thought there were always eight but learned that the number can vary), every letter on the board will be used. Here are the nonspangram answers:

Today’s Strands spangram is JUNKDRAWER. To find it, look for the J that’s five letters down on the far-left row, and wind down, over and then up.

Quick tips for Strands

#1: To get more clue words, see if you can tweak the words you’ve already found, by adding an «S» or other variants. And if you find a word like WILL, see if other letters are close enough to help you make SILL, or BILL.

#2: Once you get one theme word, look at the puzzle to see if you can spot other related words.

#3: If you’ve been given the letters for a theme word, but can’t figure it out, guess three more clue words, and the puzzle will light up each letter in order, revealing the word.

Quick tips for Wordle

#1: Check our list ranking the popularity of all the letters in the alphabet and choose your starter words accordingly. (TRAIN, STERN and AUDIO are good.)

#2: Don’t forget that letters can be used more than once.

#3: Many words are similar. You don’t want to use up multiple guesses that don’t advance your cause. So if the puzzle is STA_E, don’t guess STARE, STATE and STALE. Guess something that uses that R, T and L, like TWIRL.
